FAQ

Common questions

Is Orah affiliated with any movement?

No. Orah is built for Jews across the full spectrum of practice and background. The goal is gentle, meaningful daily connection, not ideology.

Do I have to complete every mitzvah each day?

Not at all. Orah is built around encouragement, not pressure. One mitzvah keeps your streak alive. Do what feels right today; tomorrow is another small chance.

How do streaks work?

Your streak grows each day you complete at least one mitzvah. Shabbat and Yom Tov never add to or break a streak. If you miss a day, Orah offers a repair: do three mitzvot today and yesterday is restored (once a week, for up to three missed days).

How does the Mitzvah Wallet work?

Every mitzvah you complete adds a small amount of real, donor-funded money to your wallet. You never pay anything. When you're ready, donate the balance to one of the charities in the app. Funds can only be donated, never withdrawn.

Why can't I open the app right now?

Orah locks for Shabbat and Yom Tov, from candle-lighting until after Havdalah, based on the city in your settings. If the lock looks wrong, check your location in Settings.

I'm not getting reminders.

Check that notifications are allowed for Orah in your phone's settings, then open the app once so it can schedule the next two weeks of reminders. Reminders are sent morning, midday and evening on weekdays.

How do I join or create a circle?

Open the Profile tab and tap Circles. Create one and share the invite link on WhatsApp, or tap a friend's link to join theirs. Everyone's mitzvot light a shared ring each day.

How do I delete my account or data?

Visit our account deletion page for instructions, or email bgrievefitzell@gmail.com from the address connected to your account and we'll handle it promptly.
