Jewish social network

A Jewish social network where every post is a good deed.

Orah is the social app for Jewish life: a feed of friends doing mitzvot, a Shkoyach button instead of a like, circles with weekly leaderboards, reels, statuses, chat and events. The Strava for mitzvot.

๐Ÿ‘

Shkoyach, not likes

One tap says 'well done' on a friend's mitzvah and lands in their inbox. Posts you haven't thanked yet float to the top of your feed.

๐Ÿ“ธ

Mitzvah photos

Post a tefillin selfie, your Shabbos table, or the view from your morning walk. Every photo is attached to a real mitzvah.

๐ŸŽฌ

Reels and statuses

Short videos and text statuses in a range of fonts, with sourced quotes from the greats of Jewish thought you can share.

๐Ÿ†

Circles with leaderboards

Family, friends, class or shul. A shared ring that lights up each day and a leaderboard that starts fresh every week.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Comments, chat and mentions

Talk about the mitzvah, not the algorithm. Direct messages, comments and @mentions, with reactions.

Why a Jewish social network?

Most social apps reward whoever is loudest. Orah rewards whoever did a mitzvah today. The feed only contains one kind of post, someone doing something good, and the only reaction is a Shkoyach. That changes the feeling of opening the app: instead of comparison, encouragement. Instead of scrolling, a reason to go do your own.

Find your people

Orah can check your contacts for friends who are already on the app, and suggests people to follow from your school or community. Verified accounts mark rabbis, educators and community figures. Everything is opt-in: private accounts, follow requests, blocking and reporting all work the way you'd expect.

Circles: your crew, lit up

A circle is a small group with a shared daily ring. Every member who does a mitzvah lights part of it, and it goes dark again each morning. Each week there's a fresh leaderboard. Invite people with a single link that opens straight into the app.

  • โ—Family circles across generations and time zones.
  • โ—Friend groups keeping each other accountable.
  • โ—Classes and school houses competing for the week.
  • โ—Shuls and youth groups building a daily rhythm together.

A feed that's good for you

The feed ranks posts you haven't thanked yet first, and gently boosts friends with low streaks who could use the encouragement. There's a global counter of mitzvot done today across the whole community. Orah locks for Shabbos, so the one social app you use is also the one that gives you a weekly break.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Orah a social media app?

Orah is a social app in the sense that you follow friends, post and react, but the only thing you can post is a mitzvah you did. There is no algorithmic rabbit hole, no ads and the app locks for Shabbos.

Can I keep my account private?

Yes. Private accounts require follow requests, and you can block or report any user.

What is a Shkoyach?

Shkoyach (from 'yasher koach', 'may your strength be straight') is the traditional way to congratulate someone on a mitzvah. In Orah it's the kudos button.

How do circles work?

Create a circle, share the invite link, and everyone's mitzvot fill a shared ring each day. A weekly leaderboard ranks members and starts fresh each week.

Is Orah for a specific denomination?

No. Orah is independent and non-denominational. Friends across Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and unaffiliated backgrounds use it together.
