How Orah works
Pick. Tick. Give.
Many Jews feel deeply connected to who they are but don't know where to start with daily practice. Orah is a calm place to begin, one small action at a time.
Pick your mitzvot
Start with the core list or add from the catalogue: Modeh Ani, Shema, Tehillim, tefillin, kindness, blessings. Every card explains what it is and why it matters in one line.
Tick them off
Cards appear in the order your day really goes, morning to evening. Tap, feel the haptic, watch your ring fill. One mitzvah keeps your streak alive.
Give it away
Every mitzvah earns real, donor-funded money into your Mitzvah Wallet. Donate it to a charity you choose. Your growth becomes someone else's help.
Practice
Your day, as a list of small mitzvot.
Wake, bless, pray, learn, give, be kind, close the day. Orah lays the mitzvot out in the order your day really goes, and each one takes a minute or two.
- Hebrew, transliteration and English for every prayer, with Ashkenazi and Sephardi texts where they differ.
- A fresh insight every day on each mitzvah, so the card never reads the same twice.
- A bonus mitzvah each day from the 613, glowing at the top of your list.
- Shabbos mode. Orah locks at candle lighting and comes back after Havdalah. Rest days never break a streak.
- Make it yours. Add more mitzvot from the catalogue, hide ones that aren't for you, and set a weekly goal.
Current streak
π₯ 14 days
Shabbos is a rest day: it never adds to or breaks your streak.
Streaks & trophies
Momentum, not pressure.
One mitzvah a day keeps your streak alive. Fill the ring, earn trophies with names you'll actually want to share, and watch your year light up.
- βStreak repair as teshuva. Missed yesterday? Do three mitzvot today and it's restored. No paid freezes.
- βGentle reminders morning, midday and evening. Encouragement, never guilt.
- βShareable streak cards for WhatsApp and Instagram when you hit a milestone.
Circles
Light it up together.
Create a circle for your family, your friends, your class or your shul. Everyone's mitzvot fill a shared ring each day and climb a leaderboard that starts fresh every week.
- βOne link to invite. Share it on WhatsApp and friends land straight in your circle.
- βA ring that goes dark every morning. Lit again by every member who does a mitzvah.
- βBuilt for schools. Classes and houses compete; teachers see the whole picture.

Do good. Then give it away.

Torah & wisdom
A few words of Torah, every day.

- βDaily Tehillim with the classics (20, 23, 121, 130, 150) always a tap away.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
What is Orah?
Orah is a free Jewish app for small daily practice. Each day you get a short list of mitzvot (Modeh Ani, Shema, Tehillim, an act of kindness, and more), tick them off, build a streak, and see what your friends are doing. Every mitzvah you complete also earns real, donor-funded money that you give to a charity of your choice.
Is Orah free?
Yes. Orah is free to download and use on iPhone and Android, with no subscription and no ads. The charity money in your Mitzvah Wallet is funded by Orah's donors; you never pay anything.
Do I need to be religious or know Hebrew?
No. Orah is built for Jews across the full spectrum of practice and background. Every prayer comes with Hebrew, transliteration and English, and every mitzvah has a one-line explanation of what it is and why it matters. Start with one.
How do streaks work?
Your streak grows each day you complete at least one mitzvah. Shabbat and Yom Tov never break a streak: the app locks for Shabbos and picks up again after Havdalah. Missed a day? Do three mitzvot today and yesterday is restored, once a week.
What is the Mitzvah Wallet?
Every mitzvah you complete adds a small amount of real money (for example $0.05) to your wallet, funded by Orah's donors. When you're ready, you donate the balance to a vetted charity such as Leket Israel, Hatzolah or World Jewish Relief. Giving it away is your mitzvah of tzedakah.
What are circles?
A circle is a small group: your family, your friends, your class or your shul. Everyone's mitzvot light up a shared ring each day and climb a weekly leaderboard. Invite people with a link and climb together.
Is Orah affiliated with a movement or organisation?
No. Orah is independent and non-denominational. It is used by Jewish schools, families and individuals of every background.
Begin with one small mitzvah.
