What is the Shema?
The Shema is the oldest and most central Jewish prayer, taken straight from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4). Its first line is a six-word declaration of God's oneness. The full Shema has three paragraphs that speak about love, learning, mezuzah, tefillin and tzitzit. It is said twice a day, morning and evening.
